HECHT Containment pyramid with OEL-/OEB-values

To ensure effective operator protection, it is essential to contain the product at the production site, from the first step in the process until final packaging. The critical point is often the transfer between process units and containers (containers, barrels, sacks or FIBCs). To handle this an OEL/OEB classification (to define workplace limits) is carried out to select a suitable conversion system. OEL/OEB stands for Operational Exposure Limit/Band.

Once OEL/OEB values have been defined for a new material, or workplace limits have been set for chemical products, the required technical procedure can be defined thereby minimising investment and operating costs.

HECHT Technologie GmbH has developed systems and corresponding transport containers for all OEL/OEB ranges and workplace limits.

Containment

Containment describes the process of containing a biological agent (medicinal agent, pathogenic factor) or any other substance inside a defined space. The definition "Total Containment“ is used in the pharmaceutical industry to protect man and the environment and to avoid cross contamination.

OEB/OEL

The OEB value (1,2,3,4,5,6) relates to the toxicity of the substance itself. The aim is to classify systems in order to select production units and processes that are optimally suited to a product.
OEL defines the average concentration load (µg/m³) produced by an active substance measured for 8 hours within the workers' breathing range.
